It’s official

Next week, Splat heads to the New York City Small Business Expo. If you find yourself near the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Thursday, May 3rd any time from 9:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M, stop by booth #436 and say as we’ll be running a pop-up digital minute clinic for attendees all day long. What’s that you ask? Well, it’s like urgent care for your website. Dave will conduct a mini audit of the site and suggest all things big and small that could be done to make more of an impact online.

“It’s really still the wild wild west in the worlds of web development and digital marketing,” explains Hitt, Founder of Splat, Inc. and small business owner of nearly 20-years. “We’ve found that today’s small businesses are more sophisticated than those just 10 years ago. The speed of business moves faster, transactions close more rapidly products ship almost as fast as you can hit send and websites really need to keep up from both a user experience point-of view and also from a functionality standpoint.”

Dave Hitt will provide a mini web audit for booth visitors and advise on simple things that could be done in order to be found on the web more easy (improve ranking), to keep people engaged for longer periods of time (assessing visuals and messaging) and also taking a look at how the site is being marketed online. “It seems pretty befitting that we’ve got a Zombie theme this year because so many people find the world of digital marketing to be pretty frightening,” said Hitt, “but it doesn’t have to be. At Splat we’re about demystifying digital. Code, design and strategy are all essential ingredients of a website, but what really sets a website apart are the invisible ingredients: creative sensibility, obsessive attention to detail, and a commitment to excel.”

This year, Splat’s booth theme is: “Was Your Website Dead Before it Even Went Live?” In addition to our real-time Digital Minute Clinic, Splat will also be hosting a workshop session by the same moniker on Thursday, May 3rd 3:30 P.M. – 4:15 P.M. in Workshop Room 10 (Venue Room #1A15). Topics of our presentation include:

  • How to know if your website is really dead – What to do if your site traffic is lackluster
  • 6 hacks to improve your site right now
  • Why messaging matters
  • User Interface, navigation and call to action
  • Design dos and don’ts
  • SEO what small businesses need to know
  • Why local optimization is your BFF
  • Digital Demystified – It’s not magic: know your audience – Q and A (with fun prizes)

Have *YOU* ever felt like an overworked office zombie?

These days, we find that CMOs and entrepreneurs alike are seemingly taking on a lot more work than the bygone days of pre digital marketing. It seemed like 2017 was the year of the slash. We’re not talking about being slashed by a Zombie, We’re talking about job title slash. You know like IT Director (slash) Chief Marketing Officer or Public Relations (slash) Social Media Director.

To most working Americans taking on additional responsibilities in the corporate world seemingly means better job security so we willingly say yes to roles that we didn’t sign up for in pursuit of the almighty dollar. If you run a small business, you might feel like you need to manage everything from your web upkeep to what sort of garbage bags you should buy. Small business can breed workaholic zombies. These are well- intended, smart people who are merely cerebrally taxed. They work sun up to sun down on ploughing through the day’s task list no matter what’s on it. We’re dedicating our booth and our entire theme to these hard working people. At Splat, we believe that knowledge sharing is just part of our culture and we’re excited to share some tips and tricks with our friends in the Big Apple.

By the way, don’t be alarmed if you should see real live Zombies sauntering around the trade show floor from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. They’re part of our Splat team!
